Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program “Gateway to Western Canada”

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is one of Canada’s most popular immigration pathways. The program offers an easier procedure in contrast to other provinces for immigrating to Canada. The program provides permanent residence and targets skilled individuals interested in living in the Manitoba Province of Canada.

There are three major immigration pathways that are available through MPNP:

  • Skilled Worker stream
  • Business Immigration stream
  • Modern Community-Driven Immigration Initiative

Depending on the immigration needs, the applicant must need to select the right pathway.

To apply for immigration to Manitoba the applicant needs to fulfill certain criteria before getting invited to apply for a PR. One must go to the MPNP website and fill out the application form and fill in the details or can process it through Express Entry Program. There are various factors in the form, like age, education, work experience, language ability, etc.  Each of the factors evaluates the applicant and provides them with a certain score. A minimum of 60 points out of 100 is required to be considered for nomination.

There are 6 fundamental factors in the Manitoba Immigration points grid that are assessed to determine qualification, they are:

  • Language Proficiency: (maximum 25 points) Points are based on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) band scores for Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Based on an official test provided, points are awarded.
  • Age: (maximum 10 points) Points are based on the age at the time of application submitted to the MPNP.
  • Work experience: (maximum 15 points) Points are based on years of full-time work experience. Only full-time job of 6 months or longer should be included.
  • Education: (maximum 25 points) Points are calculated based on the highest level of education completed from a recognized educational institute.
  • Adaptability: (maximum 25 points) Points are calculated based on the type of connections the applicant have to Manitoba. The applicant must have at least one type of connection to the province.

Immigration to MPNP is a 5 step process:

  • Determine eligibility.
  • If eligible, the candidate needs to take a language test and convert the scores through a CLB calculator. Post this, gather documents as a reference for work experience and educational attainment.
  • Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). The EOI is entered into a pool of eligible candidates and the MPNP draws the highest scoring candidates on regular basis.
  • The candidates drawn from the pool will receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) via email. They have 60 days to submit required documents along with the complete application.
  • MPNP Nomination approval and applying for a PR.
