New Canada immigration programs were launched on January 2, 2021. One of the programs launched under Newfoundland and Labrador is Priority skills Newfoundland and Labrador. Your ICCRC registered consultants in Delhi must be aware of this upgradation.

The programme was first announced in a November 18, 2020 news release titled, "New Immigration Pathway to Attract Newcomers to Stay in Newfoundland and Labrador."

“The pipeline will attract highly educated, highly skilled newcomers with specialized experience working in industries like technology, where a growing need has outpaced local training and recruitment,” according to the press release.

Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada's easternmost province, is made up of two distinct geographical masses. Newfoundland is an island, while Labrador is connected to the continent. The provincial capital, St John's, is home to the majority of the province's people.

The province has recently risen to prominence and grown into a strong economic force in Canada, thanks to a surge in natural and energy resources.

The new Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador immigration track is aimed at attracting "highly educated, highly talented entrants," and it notably targets skilled workers with work experience in in-demand occupations and Memorial University graduates.

Depending on demand, up to 250 to 350 invites will be issued under the new NL PNP pathway throughout the year.

Individuals who:

  1. have experience in occupations in high demand in Newfoundland and Labrador
  2. have a high level of education
  3. language
  4. work experience
  5. and/or work experience
  6. and who wish to express their interest in either staying in, or coming to the province and becoming a permanent resident of Canada, should use the Priority Skills NL process.

The new path will work on the basis of an Expression of Interest (EOI) system.

Candidates interested in emigrating to Canada and settling in Newfoundland and Labrador will need to start the process by filling out an EOI profile with the NP PNP.

Following receipt of an invitation to apply through the online portal, the candidate can apply for a provincial nomination if they meet all of the eligibility criteria for the Express Entry Skilled Worker or Skilled Worker categories of the NL PNP at the time.

EOIs are being accepted under the new NL PNP process from – at the moment.

  2. Individuals who have earned a Master's or PhD from Memorial University in a certain field such as agriculture, aquaculture, health care, or technology in the last three years.
